WAYS TO UPDATE COMPUTER DRIVERS

Drivers kick start the apparatus that are being used. Each driver is a small program a piece of software that guides the working of a device. Every device e.g. printer, camera, disk drive or key board connected to a computer needs to have its driver so that it can work. The key board and the mouse for most of the time have automatically loaded driver that is installed on a computer’s OS.

The video card and sound card need the use of disk installer supplied originally at the time of purchase with the computer. For the separately purchased cards we may use the disk provided along with them as they have their have their driver in these disks.

Why then do we need to  drivers update? The update is needed when sometimes in case of a mishap all the other methods to get the computer functioning fail e.g. sometimes computers turn dysfunctional or behave silly. what we normally can try doing is – disable and re enable the driver. If no results are gained then try to uninstall and reinstall device if this too does not work then watch and verify the driver version you have and the one on the internet. If the two are not compatible driven change is in demand.

First check whether our driver needs to be updated. For this we can pull up our device manager window by:

• Finding out My computer. And at left part of the new screen under system tasks click on view system information. Clicking this would pull up – system properties window. Here we can select hardware tab and then click on device manager window.
• Alternately, we can pull up the device manager window by right clicking. My computer, selecting properties and then selecting hardware and then device manager in the system properties window.
• If all these steps sound too complicated you may use run command shout cut, devmgmt. msc. Use it by clicking on start, select Run and type it in Run box before you click OK.

After reaching the device manager the next step would be check for the drivers that need updating. Splats can be checked on device manager screen. Remain vigilant for any question marks (?) exclamation points (!) or red (x) marks.

Question marks mean driver not yet installed. For this, it is advisable to plug in the disk drive that you have and install it. To fix the red (x) mark which means – device disabled, right click it, select properties and click on enable device.

To sort out exclamation points right click on the name or icon of the device showing them. Then, select update driver.

By now the splats must’ve definitely disappeared.
